Emirates plans to invest more than $2 billion on its in-flight experience, including interior retrofits of more than 120 aircraft beginning in November.

"While others respond to industry pressures with cost cuts, Emirates is flying against the grain and investing to deliver ever better experiences to our customers," CEO Tim Clark said.

The refurbishments will include new and upholstered seats across all cabin classes, as well as new paneling and flooring.

In addition, Emirates will install new premium economy cabins. When the upgrades are complete, the carrier, which this month completed the formal rollout of its first premium economy cabins, will have 120 airplanes offering the cabin class. Emirates had previously announced a plan to have 105 premium economy cabins on Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s.

As part of the $2 billion investment, Emirates will also roll out new in-flight meal options this month in first class and next month in business class and economy class. Enhancements will include new vegan choices and for first class, unlimited Persian caviar.
